Infertility issues and cell phones

It’s men’s health week across North America (although we’d probably get better attention from men if we declared a Men’s Health Year or even a Men’s Health Decade.

So in conjunction with that calendar event, there are all sorts of happenings and events to coincide with it all of which are geared to getting men to pay more attention to their health, so in line with that, a study out this week (one in which researchers claimed they looked at several other studies on this issue) concluded that carrying a cell phone around can affect a man’s sperm viability adversely, although it seems to have no effect on sperm numbers.

The negative effect is not large, roughly 8 % less viable sperm, these researchers say.

So for the average guy, this should not have much effect.

For a man dealing with borderline infertility issues, he might consider ditching his cellphone, or at least carrying it an area – yup, a man purse - that doesn’t likely translate into a problem for him down below.
