A great study from Ohio State University involving 32
volunteers showed what everyone with even one iota of common sense already
knows: you can’t do two things at the same time as well as you would do each of
them separately.
Especially if you drive!
In this study, the volunteers were given a visual computer
test to do, and their scores were registered.
They were then given a similar test but were also lured
into using their visual faculties into doing something else at the same time.
The researchers say this mimics what happens when a driver
also tries to text.
Quel surprise: their scores on the test plunged the 2nd
time around, that is, they were not able to do focus nearly as well on the task
– the test – as they had done when their concentration was devoted solely to
the test.
In a separate arm of the study, the volunteers were given
that computer test again but this time they were interrupted by a test
requiring the use of their hearing faculties (like someone who’s driving and
talking on a hands-free sell phone) and again their scores went down but not
quite as badly as they had during the visual-interruption arm of the study,
that is, you don’t drive nearly as well when you’re talking on a cell phone,
even if it’s a hands-free set, no matter what you may think.
So please note these results, all you morons who scan your
Ipads and mobile phone for email messages and texts while driving because you
believe those email messages are so vital to your well-being.
Just remember this: your worries about contacting those
people who can remedy your small penis can surely wait till you get to your
destination.
